Luxury Waterproof vinyl is now the choice for flooring throughout the home here in the Inland Empire. The look, feel convenience, durability, and cost of the new vinyl floors from $2.50 - $4.00 take all the pain out of your flooring decisions.

Back in the day, like five years ago, the task of selecting flooring was a monumental undertaking. The likely choices were carpet in the living room and master bedroom, tile in the entryway, vinyl in the bathroom and kitchen, and maybe some hardwood, too.

This resulted in buying small amounts of each type of flooring (more expensive), needing to figure out how each one complimented adjacent rooms, and then determining the transition methods from carpet to hardwood to ceramic tile, etc.

Sometimes there are breakthrough technologies that change an entire decorating approach. When it comes to flooring, that breakthrough has happened in a major way. According to D & A Home Remodeling’s CEO, Dayana Villasenor:

“80% of our clients are opting for waterproof vinyl throughout their entire home, and most often it is the same wood look in every room, even the bathrooms and kitchen. It just makes sense.”

The flooring decision has always come down to a few basic issues:

  • Looks

  • Durability

  • Cleaning and maintenance

  • Design versatility

  • Cost - material and labor

  • Feel to the touch

  • Water damage, scratch and dent resistance

The flooring industry is especially impacted by materials advances. Stain-resistant carpets, floating floors, engineered hardwoods, and laminates were just a few of the major changes that have impacted consumer buying decisions in flooring over the past 50 years.

California often leads the way, and the Inland Empire is one of the most popular destinations for young families. These young families are reviewing the options and recent breakthroughs in luxury waterproof vinyl are winning their hearts and minds. Today’s luxury waterproof vinyl flooring is absolutely beautiful, often under $5 per square foot installed, and gets top ratings in every one of the other most important features, including being the most resistant to water damage of any flooring material.

WATCH with SOUND ON!!

The first breakthrough - WPC Vinyl Flooring

Waterproof vinyl flooring (WPC vinyl flooring). WPC’s 100% waterproof core is a mixture of wood and plastic. While very durable, this core allows a bit of give underfoot.

The second breakthrough - SPC Vinyl Flooring

Stone Plastic Composite flooring (SPC vinyl flooring) is also 100% waterproof. Replacing the wood/plastic core with stone/plastic increases the density and makes this core practically indestructible.

Being so durable, SPC is perfect for just about any application, including commercial flooring. . While SPC doesn’t provide as much warmth or softness as WPC, you can order a thicker “wear layer” to increase the give of SPC.

  • Wear layer: This is a thin, transparent layer that provides scratch and stain resistance. May range from 8 mil (.008") to 20 mil (.020") thick. For most residential applications 12 mil to 20 mil is appropriate. For commercial applications, 20 mil may be needed.

  • Vinyl layer: This is the layer that’s printed with the desired flooring pattern and color.

  • Core layer: This is a waterproof core made from either stone plastic composite or wood plastic composite.

  • Base layer: This is the base of the flooring plank that is comprised of either EVA foam or cork.

Convenient maintenance of SPC flooring - Simply broom away dirt or wipe it with a mop when necessary. There are SPC cleaning products to bring back the shine to the surface layer.

Due to all of these benefits, SPC flooring has taken the Inland Empire by storm, with most of our clients using it for every room in the home or office. The exceptions would be where there is a very specific design element desired, such as stone masonry, period statements, or personal preference for carpet.
